Aging is a natural biological process of a retrograde nature, during which there is an imbalance of all systems, including the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) system and tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMP). And vascular aging is associated with functional and structural changes primarily in the arterial vasculature with age. Aging may be a trigger factor for pathological changes in the endothelium. The molecular mechanisms underlying the process of vascular endothelial dysfunction include increased expression and activation of matrix metalloproteinases, the concentration of which changes with aging. Numerous studies report the role of MMP-1, –2, –9, –12 in the pathogenesis of premature aging of the endothelium; they initiate cell apoptosis, which contributes to increased permeability, but there are no studies in which all age categories of both men and women were analyzed, not burdened by somatic pathology. This study examines the features of the proteolysis/antiproteolysis system in apparently healthy people of different ages and genders. <italic>Materials and Methods.</italic> As part of the pilot study, 347 apparently healthy people took part (226 women and 121 men, divided by age, according to the WHO classification), who underwent the first stage of clinical examination at the State Budgetary Institution “Consultative and Diagnostic Center of the Mountains. Yuzhno-­Sakhalinsk”, in which the level of MMP and TIMP in the blood serum was determined by solid-­phase ELISA, ng/ml. Statistical processing of the research results was carried out using the IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25.0 software package. <italic>Results and Discussion.</italic> Changes in the proteolysis/antiproteolysis system were determined in both a group of men and women of different ages, which can be characterized as not pathological, but close to such. It was found that in men aged 60-74 years, discoordinated work of matrix metalloproteinases and their inhibitors was recorded in the direction of enhancing the profibrosing effect, and in women in the same age category, the exact opposite component was identified — anti-fibrosing. <italic>Conclusion.</italic> The current development has demonstrated the influence of age and genetic resources on the system of matrix metalloproteinases and their tissue inhibitors, in addition, a special age group has been identified — the elderly group, which requires protection of the vascular system in order to monitor the impaired proteolysis/antiproteolysis system.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p style="text-align: justify;"><italic>Актуальность. </italic>Старение — это естественный биологический процесс ретроградного характера, в ходе которого происходит разбалансирование всех систем, в том числе системы матриксных металлопротеиназ (ММП) и тканевых ингибиторов матриксных металлопротеиназ (ТИМП). А сосудистое старение связано с функциональными и структурными изменениями преимущественно артериальной сосудистой сети с возрастом. Старение может являться пусковым фактором патологических изменений эндотелия. Молекулярные механизмы, лежащие в основе процесса дисфункции эндотелия сосудов, включают в том числе повышенную экспрессию и активацию матриксных металлопротеиназ, концентрация которых изменяется при старении. Многочисленные исследования сообщают о роли ММП-1,-2,-9,-12 в патогенезе преждевременного старения эндотелия, ими инициируется апоптоз клеток, что способствует повышенной проницаемости, но отсутствуют работы, в которых были проанализированы все возрастные категории как мужчин, так и женщин, не отягощенных соматической патологией. В настоящем исследовании изучается особенности работы системы протеолиз/антипротеолиз у условно здоровых людей разного возраста и пола.<italic> Материалы и методы</italic>. В рамках пилотного исследования приняло участие 347 условно здоровых людей (226 женщин и 121 мужчин, разделенных по возрасту, согласно, классификации ВОЗ), проходивших первый этап диспансеризации в ГБУЗ «Консультативно-­диагностический центр гор. Южно-­Сахалинск», у которых проводилось определение уровня ММП и ТИМП в сыворотке крови методом твердофазного ИФА, нг/мл. Статистическая обработка результатов исследования осуществлялась с помощью пакета программ «IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25.0». <italic>Результаты и обсуждение</italic>. Определены изменения системы протеолиз/антипротеолиз как в группе мужчин, так и женщин разного возраста, которые можно охарактеризовать не патологическими, но близкими к таковым. Установлено, что у мужчин в возрасте 60—74 лет зафиксирована дискоординированная работа матриксных металлопротеиназ и их ингибиторов в сторону усиления профиброзирующего эффекта, а у женщин в аналогичной возрастной категории выявлен прямо противоположный компонент — антифиброзирующий. <italic>Выводы. </italic>В настоящем исследовании было продемонстрировано влияние возраста и гендерной принадлежности на систему матриксных металлопротеиназ и их тканевых ингибиторов, кроме того, выделена особая возрастная группа — группа пожилого возраста, которая требует профилактики сосудистой патологии в виду нарушенной системы протеолиз/антипротеолиз.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>aging</kwd><kwd>matrix metalloproteinases</kwd><kwd>matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors</kwd><kwd>endothelium</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>старение</kwd><kwd>матриксные металлопротеиназы</kwd><kwd>ингибиторы матриксных металлопротеиназ</kwd><kwd>эндотелий</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Stakhneva EM, Kashtanova EV, Polonskaya Ya V.
