He is currently the director of the National Cancer Center, the director of the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the director of the National Cancer Quality Control Center, and the director of the National Cancer Clinical Research Center. He is also the chairman of the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the chairman of the Thoracic Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the chairman of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology, the vice chairman of the Chinese Hospital Association and the chairman of the Cancer Hospital Management Branch, and the vice chairman of the China Anti-Cancer Association. He is also the editor-in-chief of "Chinese Journal of Oncology" and "Chinese Oncology". Elected as president of the Asian Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, visiting professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center, MayoClinic Medical Center and University of California, Los Angeles.
