A comparative analysis is conducted on two projects featuring the same hosts - Stacy London and Clinton Kelly - across different media eras: the linear television series What Not to Wear (2003-2013, 248 episodes) and the streaming project Wear Whatever the F You Want (2025, 8 episodes). Qualitative discourse analysis, focusing on pragmatic goals, interactional tactics, and the coordination of verbal and non-verbal cues, reveals stable communicative patterns rather than mere statistical frequencies. The findings show that the earlier project was dominated by an authoritarian discourse, operationalized through tactics of negative evaluation, accusations, and mockery, thereby reinforcing external aesthetic standards. The 2025 project, in contrast, exhibits a cooperative communicative orientation grounded in empathy, respect for individual choice, and the deconstruction of rigid stylistic norms. The asymmetry of the empirical base - due to the incomplete corpus of the streaming project at its initial release - did not compromise the validity of the findings, thanks to the achieved data saturation. These results contribute to understanding how platformization and cultural shifts transform host-participant interaction in reality TV formats, with implications for media ethics, inclusive representation, and the evolving pragmatics of entertainment discourse.</p>
Полученные данные вносят вклад в понимание того, как платформизация и культурные сдвиги трансформируют взаимодействие «ведущий - аудитория» в реалити-форматах, что имеет значение для медиаэтики, инклюзивной репрезентации и эволюции прагматики развлекательного дискурса.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>communicative strategies</kwd><kwd>reality format</kwd><kwd>media discourse transformation</kwd><kwd>content platformization</kwd><kwd>disciplinary discourse</kwd><kwd>ethics of self-expression</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>коммуникативные стратегии</kwd><kwd>реалити-формат</kwd><kwd>трансформация медиадискурса</kwd><kwd>платформизация контента</kwd><kwd>дисциплинарный дискурс</kwd><kwd>этика самовыражения</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta><fn-group/></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Affuso, E.
