Vorobyov's short novel They are we, Lord! within the framework of lieutenants' prose. The critic substantiates the belonging of the writer's first novel to this literary school, introduces a notion colourless existence in captivity, anticipating existence in the entrenchment and following by a square foot of land. The simbolism of the novel title is analysed and the association with the Old Russian literary monument The Tale of Igor's Compaign is established.
