This clarification is of great importance not only for purely professional purposes, but also for broad social priorities. Arguments concerning the role and mission of journalism place it anywhere between watchdog and lapdog which makes the process of studying journalism uncertain and even contradictory as it is caught between the binds of historical values and the traps of contemporary practice.</p>
В настоящее время роль и миссия журналистики определяются границами классических постулатов прошлого и парадоксами современных практик, что провоцирует неопределенность и даже противоречия в изучении данной сферы деятельности.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>journalism</kwd><kwd>fourth estate</kwd><kwd>interpretive journalism</kwd><kwd>transgression</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>журналистика</kwd><kwd>медиатизация</kwd><kwd>глобализация</kwd><kwd>политизация</kwd><kwd>коммерциализация</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Azhgikhina, N.
