Pragmatic and social-cultural (ethic) motives of generation, extensive usage and variations of both eponyms and their acronym forms as the tools for renewal of the respective terminological systems are explained. The principle of usage (not usage) of proper names in medical terms has been revealed. A discovery of interaction between the pragmatic motivation and the social-cultural motivation is described.onomasiologymedical eponymnominative functionmotives for usage of eponyms in nominationpragmatic sensessocial-cultural sensesономасиологиямедицинский термин-эпонимноминативная функциямотивы использования эпонимов в номинациипрагматические смыслысоциокультурные смыслы[Бекишева E.B.
