Associate Professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, where she received her PhD in Linguistics in 2009. Her research interests include language change, discourse analysis, and cognitive-functional linguistics, with a focus on the development of discourse markers and their functions from both pragmatic and typological perspectives. Her work has been published in Diachronica, Journal of Pragmatics, Lingua and Text & Talk./ among others.
