The poor state of the regional transport infrastructure and the inefficient combination of modes of transport make a significant contribution to this unfavorable fact. The purpose of this article is to review the development of transport infrastructure in the EAC, especially road transport. It covered the main general transport plans in the region and the activities needed to create an integrated, efficient regional transport infrastructure network. Inland waterways are underutilized and need to be developed to enhance the contribution to transport and logistics in the region. In all cases, it is necessary to strengthen safety standards, especially road and air transport.</italic></p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p><italic>Плохое состояние региональной транспортной инфраструктуры и неоптимальное сочетание режимов транспорта в Восточноафриканском сообществе (ВАС) являются причиной высокой стоимости ведения бизнеса по сравнению с другими региональными сообществами. Цель этой статьи - обзор развития транспортной инфраструктуры в ВАС, особенно автодорожного транспорта. В нем были освещены основные генеральные планы транспортировки в регионе и мероприятия, необходимые для создания интегрированной, эффективной  региональной сети транспортной инфраструктуры. Внутренние водные пути недоиспользуются и нуждаются в разработке для расширения вклада в транспорт и логистику региона.
