Perfect Forms and Meanings of the English Verb

Abstract

The semantics of Perfect verb forms represents a complex of interacting and interdependent meanings having in the core those of antecedence, completeness and cohesiveness; they are mainly motivated by exterior factors such as: actualization of the moment of speech, speech situation on the whole, text and context as well as lexical meanings of the verbs and other words and constructions bearing the meaning of time or time limit.
