Abstract

524 patients with incarcerated wall hernias were studied. Postoperative complication rate was 19,9%, mortality rate was 8,6%. Recurrence rate was 18,6%. It depends on intraabdominal pressure and function of the external respiration. Tension-free repair appears to be safe, and is proving to be effective as it decreases intraabdominal pressure, complications, recurrences, and mortality rate.
