The Modern Pattern of the Competence for Professional Translators in the Context of Training Translators at Linguistic Universities of Russia

Sound systems interference of English and oriental languages
Abstract
The article investigates the phenomena of phonetic interference, which appears as a result of the contact of English and oriental languages in the consciousness and speech of bilinguals - speakers of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. The data of the comparative acoustic analysis of the samples from the accented lingua franca speech corpus (RACE) are given. The article also includes recommendations on applying the results of the research to studying the variability of lingua franca in the Asia Pacific Region. It determines the significance of comparative studies of differently structured languages for developing practical recommendations regarding the development of strategies needed for the perception of accented speech and regarding the instruction of English with respect to the learner's native language.

Term is a linguistically systematized and motivated unit and has its cognitive and lexical prototypes; all these characters predetermine its functions of systematizing, modeling and prognosticating scientific knowledge.

Paradigm and discourse metaphors: a cognitive approach to metaphor in science
Abstract
By taking a cognitive approach, the article seeks to sort out metaphors within the generic-level category of metaphor in science with a focus on proper scientific metaphor. We assume that science-institutionalizing concepts of scientific paradigm and scientific discourse may support our attempt at doing this and provide the ground for distinguishing paradigm-oriented from discourse-oriented metaphors.

A study of rudeness and communicative ethics in an intercultural aspect

The paper deals with a Russian assessment of the communicative behavior of middle class English speakers and aspects of rudeness considered acceptable by them in a friendly discourse. The problem has been studied from the point of view of ethical norms in intercultural communication.
