Calculating the Size of the Shadow Market as the Result of State Shortages Policy in the World Economy

Abstract

Government regulation in the form of price ceiling and price floor creates shortages. The shortages decrease the amount of welfare and cause deadweight losses. But the shortages enhance the formation of the shadow market which diminishes the amount of shortages and removes the deadweight losses. The author suggests a method of calculating maximum and minimum scale of a shadow market in contemporary world economy.

Russia in Energy Transportation Projects of Eurasia and their Role in the Integration of CIS

Abstract

The article tackles the problem of searching more efficient ways in the development of economic relations between Russian Federation and other CIS states. With due regard of the negative experience dated to the mostly trading pattern of cooperation it is suggested to move to a reproduction pattern, to launch multilateral transportation and energy projects on the post-Soviet area. The research highlighted the systemic role of Russia in the realization of such large-scale projects as the expansion of gas pipeline network in Eurasia. Based on the geo-economic approach the author illustrated schematically the development of Eurasian gas transportation projects which could give a new impetus to the real integration within the CIS.
