The article is devoted to the research of the rendition characteristics for the Russian particles вот ( vot ) and же ( zhe ) in English by the author-translator (Vladimir Nabokov). The study of particles in the Russian text and their representation in the English version confirms the researchers’ findings on particles accentuating function in the text and thus leads to the conclusion on the possibility for some other functions of the particles to be detected in the languages of different structures.
