Abstract

The evolution of F.D.E. Schleiermacher’s religious philosophy revealed the development of approaches not just in methodology, but in its perception by Russian philosophers and society starting from the second half of the XIX century. It caused critics as a philosophy of reductionalism. At the turn of XIX—XX centuries F.D.E. Schleiermacher is treated as a classic, and though his views aren’t reflecting the questions of the day, they are making up as one of the historic stages of human knowledge evolution.

Systemic Relations in the History of the Novgorod Metrological Lexicon (according to Written Monuments of the XI—XVII Centuries)

Abstract

In the article the author observes two metrological systems marked as in published written sources as in fast written sources of the XVI—XVII centuries kept in the Central State Archive of the Old Acts (Moscow). Its main task work is the description of the metrological denominations, the way they fulfilled their functions during the observed period of time and the way they were used in historic texts. The author confirms documentary the existence of a bass system in the Novgorod monuments of the specified period, except for the korobia system well-known in scientific literature.

Russia’s Portrayal in the Western Media: Culturological Context (based on British and American Newspaper Material)

Abstract

The article highlights the influence of sociocultural mentality of English speakers on their perception of Russian socio-political and cultural environment. The author demonstrates that national-cultural specificity can be evident both at the level of organizing and structuring information and at the level of culturological context. The author analyzes the newspaper coverage of Russia in Great Britain and the USA and then comes to the conclusion that both countries can be viewed as one integral linguocultural socium when it comes to Russia’s portrayal.
