Abstract

Prevalence and importance of hypertension in the general incidence structure determines a wide range of research problems. Chronobiological indices are of great importance in the investigatory activity concerning mechanisms of essential hypertension. Our work was focused on the dynamics of HR circadian profile at different terms in male SHR rats with the use of telemetry monitoring. The obtained data showed considerable changes of cardiac rhythm in different time intervals which was understood as inhibition of the chronotropic function of the heart.

Expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 and protein KI-67 at prostate tumors

Andrukhin M.I., Pul’bere S.A., Loktev A.V., Babichenko I.I.

Abstract

Iimmunohistochemical study of cells proliferative activity by Ki-67 protein and localization of matrix metalloproteinase-9 has been carried out at benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and adenocarcinoma (AC) of different gradations by the Gleason score. A significant decrease of the MMP-9 levels in the AC of different gradations have been found. A moderate positive correlation between the Gleason score and cell proliferation Ki-67 index (rs = 0,674) and a moderate negative correlation with the level of such score and expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (rs = -0,660) were detected. A weak significant negative correlation exists also between the level of proliferative activity of secretory cells and the expression of MMP-9 by tumor cell (rs = -0,369).

New opportunities in the diagnostics of stress state in surgical rhinology

Kastyro I.V., Popadyuk V.I., Blagonravov M.L., Grinchuk V.I.

Abstract

Continuous ECG recordings were obtained using 24-hour Holter monitors (Shiller MT-200) in 60 healthy men (50 patients with nasal septum deviation (NSD) and in 10 men of control group) aged 25 to 39 years old. Patients with NSD had a septoplasty. They were divided into five groups. Group 1 consisted of patients without analgesia. Group 2, 3, 4 and 5 patients received metamizole sodium, diclofenac, ketorolac and ketamine respectively. Control group was marked as Group 0. The monitoring began 30 minutes before surgery and ended 24 hours after record beginning. Circadian index (CI) was calculated from both heart rate (HR) and ST segment (STS) data. Simple linear regression was performed between HR-derived and STS-derived CIs for each groups. Inter-groups Student's t-test was calculated. Obtained coefficients of determination varied from 0.60 to 0.87. STS- and HR-derived CIs were only statistically inequivalent in Group 1 (p < 0.05). Inter-groups analysis showed that 0 and 3 Groups were statistically equivalent and there was CI decrease in groups 4 and 5 (p<0.05). Tendency to decrease CI observed in Group 2. CI can be calculated not only heart rate, but also by the deviation of CST, which indicates the importance of CST not only as ischemia marker but also as an indicator of autonomic nervous system arousal.

Long-term results of cholecystectomy

Medvedev A.M.

Abstract

Followed up the results of cholecystectomy for 10 years after the surgery. Consequences of cholecystectomy were assessed by measuring plasma levels of bile acids, the level of pressure in the stomach and duodenum, changes in the pancreas and stomach. Found that for ten years plasma levels of lithocholic, deoxyholic and taurodeoxyholic acids were increased by 44%. At the same time, the content of glycocholic and tauroursodeoxyholic acids decreased by 21.5% in 5 years after the surgery. Changes in plasma levels of bile acids associated with the changes of pressure in the stomach and duodenum. Revealed that the most marked deviations were observed in the distal duodenum. Pressureу level in this area exceeded the norm by more than 2.8 times. Increased pressure in the intestine accompanied by dilation of pancreatic ducts in 9.5% of cases and increased ultrasound echogenicity of the structure in 93% of cases. In all the cases, lymphofollicular hyperplasia of gastric antral mucosa with a high degree of Helicobacter pylori contamination was detected.

Atamanova E.A., Andryukhin M.I., Makarov O.V.

Abstract

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most frequent disease among men of middle-aged, older, associated with increasing of lifetime of men and diagnosed in 42% to 87%. The purpose of our study is to improve the diagnosis of BPH without complications and with urine retention. Transrectal sonography was performed in 77 patients with BPH with assessment of blood flow by Doppler. The speed of blood flow measured in subcapsular and paraurethral arteries with estimation of diameter and speed of vein drain into the paraprostatic veins. Transrectal sonography showed the changes of the prostatic blood-flow especially in case of BPH with urine retention. Transrectal ultrsonography plays an important role in evaluation of the prostatic blood-flow.

Abstract

Treatment of hepatitis C is one of the most acute international healthcare problems. High standard in management of patients with HCV virus is combined therapy with pegylated interferon-a plus ribavirin. A necessity to develop new medications and to improve current treatment regiments is determined by high social and economic significance of this disease. Safety and tolerance assessment in healthy volunteers, definition of maximum tolerated dose are conducted in first phase clinical trial of original, Russian medication - pegylated interferon-a, named Algeron (INN - Cepeginterferon alfa-2b). Step by step dose escalation of Algeron in groups of several healthy volunteers was applied in this trial. Results of this trial demonstrated, that safety profile of Algeron has no significant differences with safety profiles of analogical pegylated interferon-a medications. Thus Algeron can be recommended for the second phase clinical trials.
